Sewer Robotics Gripper Graps Drone Out Pipeline
5 April 2021
Our gripper attachment proved useful. A few weeks ago we were asked for help when our customer had their ROV stuck in a large cooling intake that could not be taken out of operation. The live pipe changed from a 500mm (20”) into a 400mm (16”) with the ROV stuck at about 15m (50ft), heavily restricting the flow.
The R125 robot was used with a large wheel setup, the WJ125 water jet module and the gripper attachment.
After driving up the pipe and climbing into the 16” we found the ROV and could get a firm grip on it. The grabbing force on the ‘the waterhydraulic fingers’ is controllable by adjusting the pressure on the power unit.
Luckily we got the ROV out relatively easily and with just minor scratches, using the 4-axis movement of the robot to loosen it before driving backwards.
Do you want to learn how our equipment can help you stand out from competition? We are happy to demonstrate its capabilities in a live demo!
